New Plan Extends Bentley's Path to a Fully Electric Lineup, Aims for Full Electrification by 2035
Bentley Motors has announced an extension of its Beyond100 plan, now named Beyond100+, pushing its goals from 2030 to 2035. The updated strategy aims to bring a fully electric lineup by 2035, solidifying Bentley’s commitment to sustainable luxury. As part of this vision, Bentley is set to introduce the world’s first true luxury urban electric SUV in 2026. This new model, entirely designed and developed in Crewe, will mark the beginning of a series of new electric or hybrid releases planned every year until 2035.
Bentley’s extended plan will keep its hybrid models in production until 2035, giving the brand a smoother transition toward an all-electric lineup. The latest move comes after Bentley discontinued its iconic W12 engine, making room for a new era of ultra-performance plug-in V8 hybrid powertrains in the Continental GT coupe, Convertible, and Flying Spur models.
Bentley’s CEO, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, highlighted the significance of the Beyond100+ plan, describing it as a key step in adapting to changing economic, market, and regulatory landscapes. With the goal of producing only fully electric vehicles from 2035, Bentley continues to evolve as a leader in luxury car innovation.
“Bentley is entering a transformative phase that will shape the next generation of our vehicles,” Walliser said. “Beyond100+ represents our commitment to a sustainable, decarbonized future while reinforcing our legacy of creating extraordinary cars.”
Central to the Beyond100+ strategy is the continued transformation of Bentley’s historic Crewe manufacturing site. Bentley has already achieved a carbon-neutral certification for the site, and the company is now focused on creating a 'Dream Factory' that will specialize in electric vehicle production. This major project includes a new design center, paint shop, and a dedicated assembly line for electric vehicles, ensuring Bentley’s long-term commitment to quality and sustainable manufacturing.
The Crewe site, where Bentley has been building cars for over a century, will undergo a massive overhaul as part of the largest self-funded investment in the company's history. Bentley plans to set a new industry standard with its next-generation, digital, and flexible manufacturing facility, aligning with the company’s vision of an electric future.
Bentley’s strategy indicates a clear shift toward an all-electric future, with the first battery electric vehicle (BEV) set to launch in 2026. The company’s yearly rollout of new PHEV or BEV models reflects a commitment to both innovation and sustainability, as Bentley aims to cater to a growing demand for electric luxury vehicles. With the introduction of the luxury urban electric SUV, Bentley aims to redefine the SUV segment and set a new benchmark for what luxury electric vehicles can offer.
